Twenty pit bulls neglected, drugs seized

Sheriff Greg Bartlett reports that on February 14, 2008, Agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force and the Decatur Police Departments Organized Crime Unit conducted a sting operation at 28 Simmons Road N.W. Hartselle, Morgan County, Alabama.

The search warrant produced a quantity of marihuana and prescription medication. Ashley Dale Adams, age 24, is charged with unlawful possession of marihuana and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

During the commission of the search warrant agents noticed that the living conditions for approximately twenty pit-bull dogs was well below acceptable standards.

The Morgan County Animal Control was called to the scene and took possession of the K-9's. Pending the investigation, Adams could be facing several charges of animal cruelty.

A juvenile was also found living in the residence and the Department of Human Resources was notified, due to the substandard living conditions inside the residence.

The deterioration of the living conditions were attributable to several K-9's inside the residence and defecating inside the residence.
