more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Sick pit bull found underweight Monroe, NJ (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, Jan 30, 2008 County: Middlesex
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Convicted
Defendants/Suspects: » Antonio Pierce » Jocelyn Maldanado
Case Updates: 1 update(s) available
New York Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce was accused of neglecting one of his dogs in the days leading up to the Super Bowl.
The Middlesex County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals issued a summons Wednesday [Feb 13, 2008].
The group said Pierce's two pit bulls escaped from a fenced enclosure in his yard on Jan. 30 -- just days before the game. Pierce was issued the summons because one of the dogs was found to be underweight and suffering from a respiratory illness, officials said.
SPCA chief Walt Mychal stressed that Pierce was not charged with anything related to dogfighting and could face only a fine, not jail time, if convicted. In New Jersey, the SPCA has authority to bring charges in animal cruelty cases.
Pierce and the team would not comment, Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said Thursday.
Case UpdatesA member of the Super Bowl champion New York Giants has pleaded guilty to neglecting his pet pit bulls. Middle linebacker Antonio Pierce appeared in municipal court in Monroe Township on Thursday and agreed to pay a $1,300 fine.
Authorities say one of the dogs was severely underweight and suffering from a respiratory illness. They also say Pierce and his girlfriend let the dogs run loose and failed to get them rabies shots.
Jocelyn Maldanado also pleaded guilty and was fined $1,300.
A lawyer for the couple says the dogs were given away as part of the plea agreement.
The dogs were discovered running around a neighbor's yard in late January, the week before the Giants upset New England to win the Super Bowl. | Source: Sports Illustrated - March 28, 2008 Update posted on Mar 28, 2008 - 3:54PM |
