Alleged: Joshua David MacFarlane
A case of animal cruelty in Kearns involves a neighbor who allegedly stabbed a dog in the face after he was tired of hearing the dog bark.
A pool of blood stained the snow in front of a fence that divides the backyards of two houses. Sadie, a five-year-old Pointer had been barking in one of the back yards.
When she stuck her nose in a hole in the wooden fence, 28-year-old Joshua Macfarlane allegedly stabbed the dog in the face.
David and Andrea Reynolds -owner of Sadie - remember the animal control call vividly.
"We both left work. I got pulled over on the way home for speeding," said David.
When they got home they were shocked to see a spot in their back yard looking like the scene from a bloody horror film.
"There was blood everywhere, her (Sadie's) nose was sliced open," says Andrea.
The Reynolds took Sadie to a veterinarian where they gave the dog stitches to heal the wound and they placed a cone around her neck to prevent Sadie from scratching and causing infections.
Sadie is expected to recover, but the Reynolds family is still worried about their alleged violent neighbor.
"I have a 4-year-old that I want to be able to go out and play in the back yard without having to worry," said Andrea. "If he's going to do this to a dog, what's the difference with my child out there?"
Salt Lake Police say that the man has been taken to jail and will face animal cruelty charges. He also has numerous warrants that are unrelated to this case. References« Back to Search Results
