A 2-week-old puppy is recovering after being found in a Seaside Dumpster.

Officials with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are hoping to find who is responsible.

"It's so heartbreaking," dog lover Patty Parker said.

The little pooch was found near a church at Noche Buena Street and Hilby Avenue, Beth Brookhouser of the SPCA said.

"He's so young right now," Brookhouser added. "It's just really hard to tell if he's going to make it, but we're going to do whatever we can for him."

The dog has been named Oscar, after the trash-can-dwelling character on "Sesame Street."

Little Oscar's body temperature was fairly warm at the time of his discovery, meaning he was in some kind of care up until Thursday.

The SPCA is worried that little Oscar may have some brothers and sisters that are still at risk.

In the meantime, Oscar is receiving constant care.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals of Monterey County is offering a $1,000 reward for information.
