Sunday, April 14, Ingham County Animal Control of Michigan followed up on a neighbor's complaint about a Rottweiler roaming at large and "jumping on and biting children". According to other residents on the neighborhood this report was NOT true. In fact, several of the neighbors had petted the dog as he lay on the porch.

The animal control officer who responded to the call is allegedly not a fan of the breed. ACO Gaines has told local Rottweiler rescuers that she "didn't like rottweilers, there is no such thing as a good rottweiler".

Around 7:50 pm April 14,  ACO Gaines arrived at the residence. Shortly after arriving she called in Lansing Police Officer Walter Kim who shot and killed two Rottweilers last fall. After Officer Kim got to the residence, ACO Gaines prepared to dart the dog with a tranquilizer saying something to the effect that she only had enough tranquilizers for a 50 pound dog. She then instructed Officer Kim "when I shoot him with the tranq gun, if he attacks me, take him down." She darted the dog and Kim fired and shot the dog in the neck. Immediately after shooting the dog Kim allegedly turned and said "well, that's two for two!" ACO Gaines allegedly added "its a rottweiler, all rottweilers deserve to be on a farm, put to sleep."

Quddus' owner returned home to find blood stains on his front porch and a note saying the police had shot his dog.  Quddus' veterinarians said he was one of their favorite patients, and neighorhood residents often sent their children over to play with him.
