40 dogs, 1 pony - neglected Reily Township, OH (US)Incident Date: Monday, Jan 14, 2008 County: Butler
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Bobby Lee Conrad
The Butler County Dog Warden is seeking animal cruelty charges against an evicted Reily Twp. man who housed more than 40 dogs and a pony.
Chief Dog Warden Julie Holmes said Bobby Lee Conrad, of 5030 Reily Millville Road, had been warned repeatedly in recent months about the animals' condition. Conrad has been evicted.
She said the pony suffered "sled hooves," meaning its hooves were untrimmed. "It becomes very painful for them to walk on it," Holmes said. The cruelty charges would apply only in the pony's case, she said. "The dogs had food and water, but their condition was pretty bad," she said. "This has just gone on too long and we've given him too many opportunities to fix it."
The animals are at the Animal Friends Humane Society in Trenton. Officials there say they'll need help finding them homes. Call the animal shelter at (513) 867-5727 to donate money or ask about adoption. References« OH State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Butler County, OH
