Stray kitten beaten to death with garbage can lid
Bronx, NY (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Nov 26, 2007
County: Bronx

Charges: Felony CTA
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Robert Tull

A teen was arrested on Dec 17 for beating a kitten to death.

Robert Tull, 17, allegedly struck the 4-month-old short-haired kitten with a garbage can lid at Fulton Avenue and East 171st Street on Nov. 26, according ASPCA Assistant Director Joseph Pentangelo.

He was caught on a surveillance camera nearby and was arrested outside of his Fulton Avenue home last Monday, Pentangelo said.

Concerned witnesses also called the ASPCA.

The kitten, part of a colony of stray cats that live in the area, had been badly beaten.

Tull, who was already on parole for a previous arrest, was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

Evidence showed the cat had been the victim of fatal trauma to his head and that he had been drowned.

The suspect has been charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty and faces up to two years in prison and a $2,000 fine.
