Charges are pending against a Uniontown man the Humane Society said abused his puppy so badly, veterinarians assumed the dog had been hit by a car.
Five-month-old Callie has trouble standing, and she can't walk, because her right rear leg was snapped.
"It's traumatic," said veterinarian Don Tummons. "You know, hit by a car or something like that. You don't do this just by slipping on the concrete. It's a pretty severe fracture."
According to the Humane Society, all of Callie's injuries were caused her owner. They said they were told the owner grabbed Callie by the scruff of the neck, carried her outside, slammed her onto the concrete porch and then kicked her, breaking her leg.
"Unfortunately, we're between a rock and a hard spot," said Tummons. "We'd like to send it to a specialist, but we have no money for a specialist."
If you would like to help Callie, you can call the Humane Society at 724-439-8620.
She also needs a new home. If they can't raise the money, vets will have to look for other, less effective ways to treat her.

The Fayette County Humane Society said the five-month-old puppy was abused so badly, veterinarians assumed it had been hit by a car.
The animal underwent surgery in Shaler on Monday. The dog had trouble standing and couldn't walk because its right rear leg was snapped.
"It's traumatic," said veterinarian Don Tummons. "You know, hit by a car or something like that. You don't do this just by slipping on the concrete. It's a pretty severe fracture."
According to the Humane Society, all of the injuries were caused by Callie's owner, a Uniontown man.
They said they were told that the owner grabbed Callie by the scruff of the neck, carried the dog outside, slammed it onto the concrete porch and then kicked it, breaking its leg.
"She can't use it (the leg) really right now," said Theresa Linden, of the Humane Society. "She does walk on it a little bit, but we're trying to make her not, trying to get it healed all the way."
According to officials at the Humane Society, they have received about $800 in donations so far.

Vets said Callie should make a full recovery and soon be ready for a new home. Adoption inquiries are being handled by a doctor at Duck Hollow Animal Hospital in Uniontown.
