County: AmeliaDisposition: Alleged
Alleged: James Farrell
Acting on an informants tip ACO Hairfield went to the residence of Mr. Farrell on 4/10/03 to investigate the ownership of 2 rottweiler females who had been picked up in the Cheathams Road area of Amelia on 4/7/03.
The two dogs, who were acting vicious when ACO's were called to the residents house on Cheathams Road on 4/ 7/03, were later identified by Mr. Farrell as belonging to him. Mr. Farrell also admitted to abandoning the dogs in the Scotts Fork area of the county after his wife and grand children had complained they were afraid of the dogs. He also indicated that he was not able to financially care for the dogs after he purchased two other rottweilers he intends to breed.
After having Mr. Farrell come to the shelter to positively identify his two dogs and sign over ownership of them to the county, Officer Hairfield charged him with two counts of class 1 cruelty to animals and 7 counts of class 4 misdemeanors for not having rabies on 3 of his dogs and no county dog tags on 4.
Preliminary hearings are set for May 7, 2003 in the General District Court of Amelia. The Honorable Judge Garland Bigley will preside over the case.
