Dog starved to death
Romulus, MI (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Sep 3, 2007
County: Wayne

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Connie May Madison

A Romulus woman was charged with one count of animal cruelty on Thursday. Investigators said Connie Madison starved the dog and then tried to bury it in the back yard.

The Lab-chow mix weighed 30 pounds, about half what it should've weighed.

According to investigators, she kept the animal in the garage with no food or water.

A neighbor said she witnessed the cruelty on Labor Day weekend and called police. Madison has since been evicted from her home.

Madison declined to interview with Local 4 News.

Madison currently has another dog, which investigators are trying to get a court order to have it taken away.

Animal Control officers said two of her dogs were taken from her in 2004 because she had them running loose.

Madison will be back in court Dec. 27 for a pretrial.
