Three men were indicted by a Rockingham County grand jury on felony charges alleging they tortured and decapitated a rabbit at a beach in Rye this summer.

On August 6, at about 4:30 p.m., a Rye Police officer was called to Odiorne Point State Park in the area of Frost Point for a report of people abusing a rabbit. The officer checked the area but didn't find anyone matching the description given and he did not see any animals being abused.

On August 10, Rye Police were contacted by another law enforcement agency that monitor cults. They told Rye that they had seen pictures and a video of a group of people abusing a rabbit. The agent said it looked like location was Odiorne Point State Park.

Rye Police along with a staff member of the Rockingham County Corrections, Boston Police Department Intelligence Unit, Massachusetts State Police, the Anti Defamation League, and the Rockingham County Attorney's Office joined forces to investigate.

Several months of investigation led police to the three men.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams at (603) 642-4249 or Rye Police Chief Kevin Walsh at (603) 964-7450
