On the morning of April 14, on West Main Avenue, a dog named Honey was shot by an unknown suspect. Sherry Hamilton's daughter saw that Honey was bleeding in her lower extremities and bowel area. The little terrier, age 12 and weighing about 18 pounds, made it to the top of the hill on her own. Hamilton cleaned the wound and put her on a sheet. The bullet had gone all the way through her.
"She was still very attentive and looking at me," Hamilton said. "I thought she was going to be okay."
She called her sister, who had returned to the house by the time police arrived. As authorities questioned the women, the dog's breathing had become labored but the bleeding appeared to have stopped.
Police had been on the scene for about an hour before Taylor could leave to take Honey to the veterinarian. The vet's office called at about 11 a.m. and said Honey had died as they started into surgery. References« Back to Search Results
