Friday morning, the Beckemeyers woke up to find their cat Buster wounded on the front step of their Markham home.

X-rays found Buster had BB-gun pellets in his skull and another in his neck.

It was determined Buster was shot from close range and had been kicked or struck in the face multiple times, according to Dr. Janice Selinger.

We live in a residential area, and I find it appalling that there is someone out there doing something like this, Heike Beckemeyer said.

Ms Beckemeyer filed reports to the police and SPCA. Both organizations have no records of similar incidents in the area.

I want the public to be aware of this, Ms Beckemeyer said. If a person would do this to a cat, think what they might do next.

Despite suffering severe swelling to the brain and multiple hematomas to its face, Buster is going to be OK.
