Dog severely beaten, resulting in death
Plano, TX (US)

Incident Date: Friday, Oct 19, 2007
County: Collin

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

Ashley Brooks' found her dog Boots just outside her back door, in a pool of his own blood.

Police say he'd been beaten in the head with something.

Brooks' home sits on the Hills course of the Prestonwood Country Club. By the time she ran out to see who attacked the dog, she only saw some golfers far down the fairway.

"So I thought, 'Do I run out there with my dog and say, "Did you do this?" or do I take him to the hospital?'"

Brooks rushed Boots to the vet, but wasn't able to save the animal's life.

Now Plano police have asked the golf club for a list of players on the course around the time time of the attack. Investigators say this could turn out to be a felony.

"This looks like there may have been some blunt force trauma, a stick, or possibly a golf club," said Plano Police Officer Andrae Smith.

Brooks' hoping for someone to do the right thing.

"Hopefully, this guilt will come over you and you will come out and say you did it. That's all I'm asking. Just say you did it, and say you're sorry."
