Karma, a semi-stray cat who a couple of East Mountain household took to feeding, is recovering from third-degree burns that veterinarians believe were intentionally inflicted by someone throwing a scalding liquid, or possibly battery acid, on its face.

Staff at Canyon Crossroads Animal Hospital say that Karma not only survived the ordeal, its kind demeanor and will to live has served as an inspiration to the veterinary staff.

Karma still faces reconstructive surgery. Anyone who would like to help Karma can call the Canyon Crossroads Animal Hospital at (505) 281-1515.
