The man believed to have thrown a mother cat and three of her kittens out of his company truck in Fort Lauderdale is out of a job.

A Jacksonville construction company has fired the unidentified employee for violating company policy.

According to Broward Sheriffs Office, witnesses saw a man throw three kittens about 12 weeks old and an adult female cat from the moving truck on the southbound entrance ramp from Oakland Park Boulevard to I-95 on Monday morning.

The three kittens were killed by oncoming traffic. The mother cat was saved after being picked up by good Samaritans who called police.

The rescued mother cat, named Freeway, is recovering at the Bayview Animal Hospital. She lost all of her claws from trying to grip the asphalt when she was tossed from the moving vehicle.

Its not known if police plan to file any charges against the driver.
