A Milwaukee woman rescued a kitten after it was hung in a tree by a group of young men. A kitten named Pumpkin was tortured and hung in a tree until two women saw her and had no choice but to come to the cat's rescue.

Pamela Klak was one of the people who rescued tiny Pumpkin. She was visiting a friend's house when they found a group of young men had hung the cat from this tree.

Just laughing and hitting it and thinking it was a funny to hang a pet, an animal, from a tree, Klak said.

Pamela was angry.

I was very upset and my daughter, my youngest one, she couldn't believe it either, how kids could be so mean, Klak said.

The boys ran. They were never caught. So Pamela and her friend untied the kitten and brought her to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

The Wisconsin Humane Society says medically, Pumpkin is okay and no damage was done. It's just a sick experience here at the Humane Society.

To hear that young people would do something as cruel as to hang an absolutely adorable kitten from a tree is just very upsetting to us, Dezarae Jones-Hartwig of the Wisconsin Humane Society said.

Now, the Humane Society is looking for someone who wants to give pumpkin a home.

I already have a kitty and a dog and I really wanted to keep her, but I just couldn't have another pet, Klak said.

The Humane Society says not only is this a sickening experience for Pumpkin here, they worry because animal abuse is an early indicator of people who will abuse other people later in life.
