Linn County sheriff's authorities are investigating a possible case of animal neglect this weekend.

Officers executed a warrant to search 3478 Deal Rd. near Center Point, after receiving information of animals being neglected. They were assisted by the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

Upon arrival, authorities found 15 dogs suffering from mange, open sores, and worms. One of the dogs was limping. Deputies also discovered a negelcted sheep and cow.

The owner of the property, Mark Schoneman, has not been charged.

The co-director of the shelter says the owner has relinquished ownership of 10 of the dogs to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, but no information about the remaining 5 dogs is known at this time.

The sheriff's office is still investigating this case.
