A family dog is dead after it was accidentally dragged behind a truck in Riverview
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says it will not press charges against a woman who accidentally killed her dog.
Investigators say it happened around 7 this morning.
Maria Alvizo's mother tied the dog to the bumper of the family's truck so it would not follow the neighborhood children their bus stop.
The family has several vehicles in their yard and they do not normally use the truck.
Maria Alvizo says her car was not working, so she decided to drive the truck to work.
She left for work not knowing that the dog was tied to the back of the truck.
She drove for 4 to 5 miles, then a deputy saw the dog being dragged behind the truck.
The deputy pulled her over and discovered she did not know the dog was tied to the truck.
The dog died from its injuries. References« FL State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Hillsborough County, FL
