A Greenwood man and four juveniles were arrested over the weekend after authorities say they were participating in dog fighting.

Greenwood Police Department arrested Antonio Jamar Jackson, 20, of Greenwood and charged him with dog fighting and failure to stop on lawful command.

According to police reports, officers responded to a wooded location near Klugh Street in Greenwood where they were told a dog fight was occurring.

Once there, the officers spotted a large group of people gathered around two pit bulls that were fighting each other.

Men were reportedly holding each dog on leashes.

When the group spotted the officers, many took off running. The aforementioned four juveniles stopped when ordered to do so by police. However, Jackson, who had the two dogs on leashes, did not stop.

One of the two officers reportedly ran down Jackson and eventually arrested him.

Meanwhile, both of the pit bulls were injured in the fight and were taken to the Humane Society animal shelter in Greenwood.

The four juveniles were reportedly charged in the incident as well, and were later released into the custody of their parents.
