A Cornwall man is facing animal cruelty charges in relation to the a black Labrador puppy that was thrown from a speeding car.
Micheal Phillip Bissonnette, 34, of Hamilton Crescent, was formally charged last Friday regarding a Sept. 18 incident where the pup was tossed from a moving car in front of Mac�s Milk at the Eastcourt Mall.
Bissonnette is facing charges of willfully causing unnecessary pain and suffering by failing to provide veterinary medical attention, as well as willfully abandoning an animal in distress and failing to provide suitable and adequate food, water, shelter and care.
�These are criminal code violations,� stated Insp. Bonnie Bishop, of the Ontario Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Penalties can include probation, prohibition, fines or jail time. Bissonnette is set to appear in Cornwall court Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. References
