Cat repeated thrown against wall Hampton, VA (US)Incident Date: Saturday, Sep 22, 2007 County: Hampton City
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Preston Elmore
"Little man" is a 2-year-old tabby that now calls Hampton Roads home. His owner rescued him off the streets of Bahrain. Don't be fooled by his name, he has a personality larger than life, that was, until Saturday night.
"She saw him actually throw the cat against the wall and I walked in because I heard her screaming." Amber Rose says she couldn't believe her eyes. The room was destroyed and her friend was shielding the cat from her boyfriend, 26-year-old, Preston Elmore.
Hampton police arrested Elmore Saturday night and charged him with Animal Cruelty. Rose says Little Man looked nothing like his former self. "His eyes were blood red, whole eye was blood, his mouth was bleeding, his tongue was sticking out panting, bloody paws...."
According to the veterinarian report, the cat suffered extensive injuries. A hemorrhaged eye, head trauma and a swollen jaw. Rose is unsure about the source of Elmore's rage. "When Preston was sober he was a very nice guy, very nice to the cat, but when he was drunk he showed a violent side."
The cat, who Rose says was loving and quirky, now spends his days hiding behind a TV. His future, uncertain. "His jaw is still moving side to side he can't close his jaw, he's attempting to eat out of a syringe but we're still not able to get it down his mouth, so he's going back to the vet tonight."
Elmore will be in court in November. Rose says he's offered to pay for the vet bills, which total nearly $500. References |
