Police seized a Staunton man's dogs Thursday, charging him with misdemeanor animal cruelty, according to Staunton police.
Authorities were called to a home in the 300 block of Sunnyside Street, where they discovered a dog chained to a car axle. A puppy chained to a tree was found entangled, unable to get to its water. A second puppy found on the property had "an open wound stretching from head to tail," said Staunton police spokeswoman Cpl. Kristie Siron. The dog was taken to Augusta-Valley Animal Hospital. Another dog had to be untangled from a cable chain.
