more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Dog attacked with axe, resulting in death Rogers, AR (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, Jan 31, 2007 County: Benton
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Daniel Lee New
A Benton County man began serving a 10-day sentence for severely injuring a pit bull with an ax.
Daniel Lee New, 25, reported on Sept 10, to the Benton County Jail.
In Rogers District Court on Aug. 24, New pleaded guilty to animal cruelty, a class A misdemeanor. New was arrested in February on the misdemeanor charge.
Deputies responded to 11520 White Feather Road after a phone call from New's brother - David New, according to Doug Gay, public information deputy for the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
David New told deputies he came home, where he was met at the door by his brother, who was holding a bottle of whiskey. David New said his brother claimed he had killed a female pit bull named Pig. According to Gay, Daniel New claimed he committed the act because the dog had defecated in the house.
Deputies located the dog alive in a wooded area near the residence, Gay said. The dog was bleeding profusely, so a deputy did the merciful thing and shot the animal, Gay said.
Rogers District Judge Doug Schrantz sentenced Daniel New to 60 days in jail, but suspended 50 days of the sentence. He was fined $500 and must undergo a mental evaluation and show proof that the evaluation was completed. References « More cases in Benton County, AR
