Drive-by shooters killed a dog after several rounds were fired Friday at an apartment complex off Bradyville Pike, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Owner Natasha Dotson of Eagle Street took her dog to the veterinarian after the pet suffered injuries during the shooting on Riviera Drive, Officer Rico Hathaway reported. The dog ran to a house on Sherrill Boulevard.

Officer Mark Moghaddam reported police found seven shell casings in the road and an apartment sustained damage to the window and wall after the round entered the residence. Another round shattered the window of a van.

Police are investigating.
