more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Fighting dog dismembered Edgemoor Gardens, DE (US)Incident Date: Sunday, Apr 1, 2001 County: New Castle
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Lamar Stewart
in April 2001, a neighbor had heard barking and yelping from the window of his semi-detached home on North Rodney Street. One time he called the county police. "I didn't know if they were beating the dog or leaving it out or what,'' he recalled. While cleaning up his yard, he found out. "I saw dogs in pieces. That's what I saw,'' Mele said. Mele said it took his brain several seconds to process the sight. "I couldn't even talk for five minutes,'' he said. When Mele gathered himself, he called authorities, and police and SPCA officers descended on the home.
Outside, parts of two dog carcasses lay scattered on the ground, and four dogs wandered about. The dogs' 25-year-old owner, Lamar "Pee Wee'' Stewart, said one of the living dogs, a fighter he had recently bought, had killed two and injured one days earlier, an arrest report said.
Stewart, who court records show had prior convictions for cocaine trafficking and criminal impersonation, later pleaded guilty to dogfighting, cruelty and conspiracy. Instead of prison time, he was sentenced to probation, a $1,000 fine and agreed not to own animals for five years. In return, prosecutors dropped similar charges against his girlfriend.
A year later, Stewart violated his probation by having another pit bull, court records showed. And in 2003, while still on probation, he robbed a PNC bank near Claymont and served time in federal prison.
Stewart, who could not be reached, no longer lives in Edgemoor Gardens. Dogfighting still occurs there, residents said. References« DE State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in New Castle County, DE
