Dragging dog tied to vehicle Carson City, NV (US)Incident Date: Sunday, Mar 30, 2003 County: Carson City
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Karen Singh
Paramedics wrapped a Jack Russell Terrier dog in a blanket and took him to the animal hospital when they responded to what they thought was a traffic accident. At the scene they found the dog's owner, Karen Singh, holding the dog and screaming. Authorities said the dog had been tied to Singh's 1988 Yugo and dragged behind the car. Crackerjack lost a lot of skin and fur and the pads of his feet were scrapped nearly to the bone, sheriff's deputies said. Deputies said Singh, 49, was uncooperative and gave no explanation as to why the dog was tied to the car or how far she had driven with him there. Singh was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty, drunken driving and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
The dog is recovering at a veterinary hospital. Authorities are verifying Paul Singh's claims to the dog. Karen Singh waived a preliminary hearing on the charges. References « More cases in Carson City County, NV
