A 67-year-old man is charged with animal cruelty for shooting a small dog that entered his yard.
Prosecutors say the dog had to be euthanized because of injuries to its internal organs. While officials were investigating the May 20 incident they also found a robin in the yard that had been shot to death.
Salt Lake County Animal Services filed the initial complaint against the man. The case was then transferred to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's office and he was charged in 3rd District Court yesterday with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
