Alligator abandoned in pillowcase
Overlook Beach, NY (US)

Incident Date: Saturday, Jul 28, 2007
County: Suffolk

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

An early morning beach walk yielded a surprise when an off-duty animal control officer found an alligator in a pillowcase.

The dog cop came across the wriggling sack on Overlook Beach Saturday. Someone had written on the sealed bag: "Live Gator - Please find him a home," according to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The agent, an off-duty SPCA officer, called in a response team to rescue the 30-inch-long reptile. The SPCA wants to know who dumped the gator.
