Dog beaten to death with baseball bat, set on fire

A 17-year-old Parkton teen is out on bond after being charged with animal cruelty.

According to the Cumberland County sheriff's detectives, Jeffrey Pomeroy allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's house on July 18th and stole her one-week-old puppy.

Pomeroy took the puppy to his aunt's house where he beat it to death with a bat, set it on fire and buried it in the back yard.

Deputies arrested Pomeroy on July 24 night after being called to his house because of a domestic disturbance.

Pomeroy is charged with felony breaking and entering, and cruelty to animals.

He was released on a $2000 bond and made his first court appearance July 25 morning.
