Hoarding 25 cats Belmont, NC (US)Incident Date: Saturday, Jun 30, 2007 County: Gaston
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Dot Hill
A Gaston County woman who was recently arrested is getting a helping hand from a local church.
Belmont Police charged Dot Hill with animal cruelty because of the unhealthy living conditions inside her home. The house is now condemned, and Hill doesn't have the money to find a new place to live.
"I didn't know what I was going to face," said Hill, "but I just prayed about it and I was going to do it regardless."
Hill was forced to leave her home when it was condemned.
Pastor Allen Foreman gave Hill a place to stay, and a promise. He plans to demolish Hill's old home, which once housed 25 cats and chest-high filth, and build a new one from the ground up, with no cost to her.
"We need to be the hand of Jesus, and be the eyes looking for compassion without judgment," said Foreman, with New Life Baptist Church.
The congregation has offered thousands of dollars, and prayers, for Hill. Her home will be demolished later this week, and Foreman hopes to have a new home built by this fall. References« NC State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Gaston County, NC
