Modesto Police have arrested a man and woman on suspicion of child endangerment after they found seven dogs and a horse living inside their home.

Authorities say the animals had defecated all over the home and the entire house was infested with flies.

Joe Silva and Nichole Surkala were keeping a pony and dogs inside their house.

Police say a child at the home was sleeping in a tent inside the house to keep the flies away.

Authorities say Surkala is the child's mother and Silva is his stepfather.
