Capital Area Humane Society officers said about 75 cats and 11 dogs were found living in deplorable conditions inside a Dublin home on Thursday.

After a receiving a tip, officers reportedly served a search warrant and found the animals, many of which were inside the garage.

Conditions inside the Summit View Road home forced officers entering the residence to wear respirators.

The Humane Society said many of the cats were feral and difficult to catch. Officers said it would take several hours to capture all of the animals.

According to reports, the tenant, Jacqueline McNamara, lived in the home alone.

According to Chief Humane agent Kerry Manion, McNamara believed she was helping the animals.

"Complete denial of the situation," Manion said.

Officials at the scene said the Department of Health was evicting McNamara, and condemning the home.

Case Updates

Dozens of cats settled into their new home at the Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) this week while their owner, Jacqueline McNamara, reportedly faces animal cruelty charges.

The cats will stay at the shelter until McNamara relinquishes them voluntarily or is forced to surrender them by a judge.

According to agents, McNamara is facing animal cruelty charges for hoarding more than 80 cats and dogs in her Dublin home. The animals were confiscated last week.

Their arrival of the additional animals at the shelter comes at the height of kitten season when the societys facility is already full.

Its a strain, Jodi Buckman, Executive Diretor of CAHS, said.

Unfortunately, McNamaras cats are evidence and cant be adopted out yet. Therefore, the humane society will be adopting the other cats out at a reduced rate to make room.

July 5 through 8, adult cats can be adopted for only $30. All of the cats are spayed or neutered and are current with shots, vaccines and a microchip.
