Blackstone Police investigating the death of one of their own. An officer loses his partner. A tragic mistake, one that pet lovers can learn from.
After a long, 12-hour shift, a veteran K-9 officer in the Town of Blackstone goes to bed, later waking up to make a frantic 9-1-1 phone call. He forgot and left his partner in the car.
Officer Tony Mayton's partner, Oakley, was a drug dealers worst nightmare. The black lab with impeccable senses, was known for quite a few cocaine busts around town.
Blackstone Mayor says the death of this police dog is a tremedous loss to the community.
"Officer Mayton immediately called police and was understandably upset and distraught."
Blackstone Animal Control Department is spearheading the investigation. Officer Mayton is on scheduled leave. So far no charges have been filed.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
