A local man claims Fort Wayne police officers shot his dog to death while it was chained up to his porch. Witnesses say the shooting was brutal and unnecessary.
Keith Henning says he was inside when police came to his house for a second time Saturday. He says he then heard the shots that killed his dog, Misty. "When I heard the four shots, I hurried up and I came out of the bathroom," Henning says. "My wife and my son were out here, they were hysteric. Fort Wayne police is supposed to serve and protect."
A neighbor and witness to the shooting who asked to remain anonymous says "The one who shot the dog knew that dog was on a chain because he had been up there just a few minutes before that. The dog came out from the end of his chain and he was about 5 feet from the end of the dog's chain and he shot him. He knew that dog wasn't gonna get him. That's the end of the dog."
Henning admints his dog has bitten someone before. A police report on the incident states the two officers shot the dog after it attacked one of them as he was approaching the house. The investigation continues. References | Indiana's News Center |
