The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for torturing and killing a cat in the Gray Stone North subdivision of Grayson. The $2,500 reward offered by The HSUS is in addition to the current $2,300 reward offered by the owner and local community, which brings the total reward offered in this case to $4,800.

According to investigators and media accounts a two year old cat named Sammy was tortured and killed on May 24, 2007. Sammy was then displayed by tying his body to a small wooded cross. The killing took place near a lake off Lakemont Drive in Grayson.
