5 deer illegally taken
Des Moines, IA (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, Oct 31, 2002
County: Polk

Disposition: State Citation

Persons of Interest:
» Shane B Fryar
» David A Donahoe

The Iowa DNR charged two Arkansas men with illegally taking five deer in November 2002. The deer were taken within the Des Moines city limits, near the Des Moines International Airport.

The men charged are Shane B. Fryar, 565 County Road 450, Berryville, Ark., and David A. Donahoe, 615 County Road 450, Berryville, Ark. The DNR is still investigating at least two more people in two different states related to illegally taking deer in the Des Moines area. The case remains under investigation.

The deer were shot early in the morning or late in the evening. The men would pass up many antlered deer before taking the larger animals, said Craig Lonneman, DNR conservation officer for Polk County.
