Godwin Ayide, of Lake Heights Drive in Hamburg, will be appearing May 18, 2007 in Hamburg Town Court on felony animal cruelty charges.

Ayide was witnessed shooting his dog in the eye with a BB gun last month; the witness brought the dog to the SPCA's shelter in Tonawanda for care. The dog, a young, female pit bull terrier dubbed Missy by SPCA staff members, needed her eye amputated and is recovering nicely. The case is being considered for the Grand Jury.

Ayide was charged with cruelty to animals by SPCA Senior Investigating Agent Michael Armatys. Further proceedings in this case have been scheduled for Friday, July 13, 10:00 am in Hamburg Town Court. Missy is currently residing in a volunteer foster home, and her foster family reports that she's doing extremely well, and has remained sweet, affectionate, and loving.

Godwin Ayide is scheduled to appear in court on July 26 at 10:00 a.m. for further proceedings on the animal cruelty charges he faces in Hamburg Town Court.
