At Wednesdays hearing, Assistant District Attorney Brad Burget called for a review and revocation of Palmers probation and bond, stating he believed there was sufficient evidence she was in possession of animals.

Palmers mother Katherine McGlothin testified Palmer transferred ownership and care of her horses to McGlothin and McGlothins grandson Michael McGlothin as soon as they left court June 13, and Palmer has not had anything to do with the horses since then.

The supposed sale of horses to her close family members was a way for Palmer to snub the courts order to not own any animals, Burget said.

Witnesses testified animals were on Palmers property after June 13, but they had access to food and water, and the majority of Palmers horses were healthy.

One witness, veterinarian Debbie Guillory, said some of Palmers horses were sick at the time, but that was not due to neglect, and medication was on the site as evidence the horses were being treated.

Debbie has expressed concern and care about her horses to me for years, she said.

Guillory said she believed Palmer accidentally transferred an unknown parasite to one of her pastures when she rescued a horse from the Sicily Island area.

That parasite could have been the source of the horses sickness, Guillory said.

There have certainly been horses that suffered and died because they could have had greater and faster care, but Debbie loves a horse and wants to rescue them all, Guillory said.

Palmer will return to court Nov. 14.

Vidalia resident Debbie Palmer once again found herself in the custody of the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office Monday.

This time, however, Palmer, 52, 930 Eagle Road, turned herself in at the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office in response to a warrant on animal cruelty charges issued last week, Public Information Officer for the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office Kathy Stevens said.

The warrant was signed by CPSO investivator Sheila McFarland after she investigated an animal cruelty complaint last week.

The new complaint involved a malnourished horse that has since been moved from Palmer's property to a location outside of the parish for care, McFarland said.

Palmer has been to court several times in the last year on animal cruelty charges and allegations stemming from them.

Palmer was out on a $35,000 bond stemming from a June 11 arrest for animal cruelty with similar allegations.

Palmer was convicted in November 2006 of two counts of animal cruelty, three counts of imprper disposal of animal carcasses and a violation of the livestock sanitary board.

Judge Leo Boothe placed Palmer on two years probation and limited the number of horses Palmer could own to 10 for the entirety of her probation.

Palmer is currently being detained on a $25,000 bond.
