In January 2007, Ingham County Animal Control Officers seized 23 dogs and cats from the residence of Teena Jones of 2024 Melvin St in Lansing as a result of inhumane conditions.
Two of the animals were immediately euthanized due to the severity of their injuries and conditions.
The animals were taken to the animal shelter for care and treatment.
Jones was charged with four counts of animal cruelty. A preliminary hearing date is scheduled in mid June 2007. Case UpdatesAccording to court records, on July 20, Teena Jones was sentenced by the court for a misdemeanor conviction of animal cruelty.
Her sentence included 14 days in jail, 2 years probation, 100 hours community service, fines, and restitution to Ingham County Animal Control for the care of the animals.
