Waverly, NY (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, May 23, 2007
County: Tioga

Charges: Felony CTA
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Jacob C. Peterson

Jacob C. Peterson, age 31, of 422 Spaulding Street, Waverly, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses following a recent Village of Waverly Police Department investigation of a report of child abuse allegations against him.

According to a press release submitted by WPD Sergeant Mark Mitchell, the department's public information officer, Peterson is accused of killing a six-month-old kitten by throwing the animal, a family pet, against a wall.

Peterson allegedly killed the kitten when he became angry at it for scratching his five-year-old daughter, according to Mitchell's report.

Peterson has been charged not only with felony aggravated cruelty to animals, but also for misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, as he allegedly killed the kitten in front of his daughter and showed her violent adult cartoons.

This incident was reported to have happened at Peterson's home during the last week of May. He was arrested at the Waverly Police Department at 2:45 p.m. June 7.

Peterson has been issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges against him in Village of Waverly Justice Court at 4:30 p.m. June 14.
