Baltimore City Police have reportedly arrested a 16 year-old boy for allegedly stealing a pit bull and dousing it with hot grease.

The dog's owner believes the 16 year old stole his pit bull and forced it into a cruel dog fight. When his dog apparently won, the suspect doused the pit bull with hot grease.

The injuries were so bad the dog had to be put down. The hot grease melted the dog's ear and burned the skin on its back and leg.

Animal control officer Carlton Granger first responded to the incident about 2 weeks ago when the dog's owner called in a report. The 16 year old apparently stole "Banks" from the owner's backyard and took him to his home on West Cold Spring Lane. It appears a dog fight was initiated between "Banks" and the suspect's pit bull. When the dogs couldn't be separated, the suspect allegedly threw hot grease on the stolen pit bull. Animal control officers took the injured dog to an animal shelter to be euthanized.

Animal control officers went to the suspect's home and removed his pit bull. Granger says, We went by to check it to see if anything was in the yard. The dog he described to us was a pit bull without tags, no food or water." The 16 year old was charged with animal cruelty. If convicted, he could face up to 3 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
