Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Joseph Scalzo
A Niagara Falls man who went shopping at the Boulevard Mall came out of the air-conditioned shopping center feeling the heat as police arrested him for keeping his dog in a hot car.
According to police, Joseph Scalzo left his dog in his car for at least an hour. The SPCA says it measured the temperature inside the car at 105 degrees.
Scalzo was arraigned on animal cruelty charges and his being held on $500 bail. The SPCA says the dog was panting heavily inside the car, but after treatment has recovered. Because the dog is otherwise ok, the dog will be returned to Scalzo once he's out of jail. References« NY State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Erie County, NY
