According to court records, Aaron Wayne Johnson was charged with animal cruelty in July 1999 in Hughes County. Records indicate he was also charged with carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana, and resisting an officer.
Johnson entered a guilty plea on September 28, 1999, as part of a plea bargain. He was ordered to pay a fine of $200 for each of the three counts, court costs of $220, and an assessment fee of $100. He was given a one year suspended sentence.
On November 4, 1999, his suspended sentence was revoked for a violation, and he was sentenced to 30 days in custody to be served concurrently with another criminal case. He was also ordered to seek substance abuse counseling, court records show.
In 2004, Aaron Johnson was again arrested for animal cruelty related charges.
On May 25, 2004, Johnson was arrested along with more than 21 others in the largest dog-fighting bust in Oklahoma history. He was charged with racketeering, conspiracy, keeping a dog for fighting, instigating a dogfight, facilitating a dogfight , and cruelty to animals, according to court records.
