Puppy thrown over roof Bay Minette, AL (US)Incident Date: Friday, May 11, 2007 County: Baldwin
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Christopher Watkins
A convicted felon has been arrested in Bay Minette on animal cruelty charges. Police arrested Christopher Watkins after they say he grabbed his 12-month old puppy and threw him over the roof of a house. "Tiny" broke a leg during the fall.
"He's adjusting really well to his cast," says Bay Minette Animal Control Officer Gina Ramer. "It was a tough case to work, this 12-week old puppy shouldn't have to go through the pain that he went through."
Police say Watkins recently moved to Bay Minette from Clarke County, where he was convicted on a sex abuse charge involving a minor.
"This animal cruelty charge is only a misdemeanor but we're hoping to get tougher laws and penalties on the books," says Ramer.
"Tiny" is expected to make a full recovery. The puppy is available for adoption. Tiny and several of his puppy friends will be available for adoption Saturday at the Foley Art-in-the-Park from 10am until three. References« AL State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Baldwin County, AL
