Alleged: Nathaniel John Croyl
Police charged a man with misdemeanor animal cruelty on May 12 after receiving a report of a malnourished dog on Third Street, according to the Staunton Police Department.
Nathanal Croyl, 39, of Staunton, was released on a summons.
Police said they found an underweight dog with matted hair that covered its eyes.
