Dog shot to death
Hope Mills, NC (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Apr 29, 2007
County: Cumberland

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Robert Mac Allen

On Thursday, Robert Mac Allen, 33, of the 800 block of Vandalero Court in Hope Mills, was charged with shooting and killing a neighbor's Rottweiler on April 29.

Allen's pit bull jumped over a fence and into the yard of Derward Cavanaugh, according to a report filed at the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

The pit bull began fighting with the Rottweiler, the report said, and Cavanaugh tried to break it up. When he couldn't separate the dogs, he got a pistol and shot the pit bull, which then jumped back into its yard, according to the report.

Allen then came outside with a gun and shot Cavanaugh's dog, the report said. No bail information was given.
