Plano police have opened an investigation into charges of animal cruelty at a local pet store that has been the subject of more than five years of customer complaints and concerns.

The complaints recorded through Animal Services - some accompanied by photographs - accuse Plano Pets of questionable euthanasia practices, poor sanitation, the selling of protected species, the selling of sick animals, improper disposal of dead animals, and causing a nuisance to neighboring businesses.
