The Pima County Sheriff Department's Animal Cruelty Task Force is investigating a case involving a badger.

A man shot a badger nine times.

The badger is recovering at the Tucson Wildlife Center.

The shooting happened near Campbell and Irvington.

Apparently the man had been advised to leave the badger alone, but he shot him anyway, then called Pima Animal Care to pick up the animal.

It's against the law to shoot or kill any animal unless you have a permit or your life is in danger.

After the badger recovers, he'll be released into the wild, away from people.
