Alleged: Rudy Alvaro, Jr
A Santa Ynez man faces charges of animal cruelty after deputies busted a cockfighting ring at his residence on April 12.
Rudy Alvaro Jr., 37, was cited and released after deputies seized 77 roosters, 40 rooster fighting blades, and paraphernalia used in rooster and dog fighting from his residence in the 1600 block of North Refugio Road, according to a Santa Barbara County sheriff's report.
Deputies investigated the residence after a complaint filed several weeks ago claimed there were "barking chickens" and that hens were outnumbered by roosters, which allegedly showed signs of being raised for fighting. References« CA State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Santa Barbara County, CA
